My name is Grady Lucas and I've been a freelance graphic/web designer for nearly 20-years now. After returning from San Francisco in the mid-nineties and relocating my business back to Austin (UT Grad here), I was surprised to find it so difficult to connect with other professionals here as compared to the close-knit community in SF.
So, after a few years of making a few connections with other freelancers here and there in Austin to collaborate on projects, it occurred to me to start an online community just for freelancer's here in Austin – TalentBase-Austin.com was born.
It's been about a year since the first launch and we're still growing; nearly 100 Austin freelancer's online so far.
Project requests from client's are becoming more and more complex and it's frustrating when you don't have all the skills needed for a client's project. You know, you hate to say know to the work, but if you don't know someone that has the skill needed to complete that part of the project, you're either cut out of that part of the budget, or worse, you pass on the project altogether. That's where TalentBase comes in. Search the database for other individuals with the skills you and your client's need. This will add value to your client relationship and as a bonus will give you more 'bandwidth' to take on more projects. It's a win-win.
So, I hope you will find the time to use TalentBase often, even post a project skill request of your own, or just search the Talent pool for the skill set you need.
